Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup salted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat treated)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Place the flour in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 45 seconds until it reaches 160°F on an instant-read thermometer. Allow it to cool completely.
- Using a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, mix the softened butter and brown sugar on medium-high for at least 5 minutes until light and airy.
- Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Incorporate the cooled, heat-treated flour and salt, mixing until uniform.
- Add in half of the heavy cream (about 2-3 tablespoons) and continue mixing until evenly distributed.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar. As it mixes, pour in the rest of the heavy cream and blend until smooth and velvety.
- Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips by hand and use immediately to frost your favorite treats.
Notes
Ensure the flour is heat-treated to eliminate any raw taste.
Allow the butter to soften at room temperature before mixing for the best texture.
This frosting can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
