Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp milk (whole or 2%)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Line baking trays with parchment paper.
  3. If the ambient temperature is over 75°F, chill the trays before use.
  4. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  5. Add egg yolks and vanilla extract, mixing on medium speed until fully combined.
  6. Sift flour and salt into the mixture, mixing on low until it becomes crumbly.
  7. Gradually add milk, one teaspoon at a time, until the dough reaches a sticky and thick buttercream consistency.
  8. Transfer the prepared dough to a piping bag fitted with an open star tip.
  9. Pipe 2-inch rosettes onto the lined trays, leaving 2 inches between each rosette.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 13 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are just set.
  11. Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheets before storing.

Notes

For best results, ensure the butter is softened at room temperature before starting.
Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain their soft texture.
Experiment with different flavors by adding citrus zest or almond extract.
