- 3 tablespoons whole milk or heavy cream, plus more as needed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare an 8×8-inch square baking pan by spraying it with nonstick spray and lining it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together thoroughly.
- In a large bowl, combine the vegetable oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in the shredded zucchini.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 32 to 38 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Once baked, allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before frosting.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder.
Ensure to grate the zucchini finely for an even texture in the cake.
