- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 oz dark chocolate
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180C/160C Fan and line a 9" square baking tray with parchment paper.
- Melt together the unsalted butter and dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of boiling water or in the microwave for 1-2 minutes until melted. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
- In a new bowl, combine the eggs, sugar, and sourdough discard, mixing until thoroughly combined.
- Carefully pour the cooled chocolate mixture over the egg mixture and fold together gently.
- Sift the cocoa powder and plain flour over the chocolate mixture, then fold together again until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
- Once baked, let the brownies cool fully in the tin, then refrigerate for a minimum of two hours before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate.
Ensure to cool the chocolate mixture before adding to eggs to prevent scrambling.
Brownies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
