  • Prep Time 15 minutes
  • Cook Time 45 minutes
  • Yield 24 cookies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 nutter butter cookies, family-size package
  • 1 cup candy melts, yellow, 6 ounces
  • 48 candy eyes
  • 48 sprinkles, round orange
  • 1 cup icing, royal, white, 8 ounces

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, melt the candy melts in the microwave at 50% power for 1 minute. Stir and continue melting for 30 seconds at a time until smooth, stirring in between.
  2. Dip the cookie into the melted candy, ensuring the face is thoroughly covered. Allow excess candy to drip off.
  3. Set the cookies on a cooling rack for 5 minutes to let the candy harden.
  4. Press two candy eyeballs just above the halfway point on the cookie, followed by two orange sprinkles underneath to form a beak. Allow to set for about 15 minutes.
  5. Once set, use the royal icing to outline a broken egg shell at the top and bottom of each cookie. Fill the outline completely with royal icing and shake to smooth. Let dry before serving.

Notes

Make sure to use a microwave-safe bowl to avoid any disaster while melting the candy.
For best results, let the icing dry completely before displaying or serving the cookies.
