  • 3/4 cup white sugar, 150g
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, 50g
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 180g
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, mini or reg
  • 3/4 cup milk, any kind, even dairy free
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup neutral oil, vegetable or avocado


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F and prepare a 9×9 inch pan by lining or spraying it.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the white sugar, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt, then mix well.
  3. Stir in the chocolate chips until they are well coated in the dry mixture.
  4. Add the milk, vanilla extract, eggs, and oil to the mixture and stir just until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 26-28 minutes. The cake is done when it pulls away from the sides and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  6. Frost with chocolate Swiss meringue or a quick chocolate buttercream frosting.
